San Juan Del Sur is one of the most famous and beautiful places that you could ever find in Nicaragua. Nobody in Nicaragua knows who wrote the play "El Guenguense" The first texts were composed in the beginig of the eighteenth century. This play is performed during the feast of San Sebastián, patron saint of the city of Diriamba in Nicaragua's Carazo province. If we put all the chareacters together we have in total 14 characters, El Güegüense himself and his two sons, the Spanish governor, his sheriff, a clerk and an assistant; the governor's daughter and two chaperones along with the four mules, called machos.
